Course objectives
The aim of the course is to present students with the way of establishing a travel agency or tour operator, with preparation of a business plan, with organizational structure and functioning of a travel agency and a tour operator (hereinafter TA and TO), with the most important work operations and procedures and with services offered by TAs and TOs. Students will learn about the legislative requirements for running TA and TO, functioning of of TAs and TOsa as well as with the procedure for closing contracts between tourism subjects. Furthermore, students will be trained in the principles of creating and selling a TA or TO product, including its promotion and billing.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to the course, terminology, literature and information sources, requirements.
  • 2. History and development of tourism in the Czech Republic.
  • 3. Topical focus of TAs and TOs.
  • 4. TA and TO focusing on cultural tourism in the Czech Republic and abroad – model presentations.
  • 5. Setting up of travel agencies and tour operators.
  • 6. Insurance of TOs; contracting services of TAs and TO.
  • 7. Creation of TA and TO products.
  • 8. Price policy and calculation of the price of a product.
  • 9. Product distribution by TAs and TOs, current trends.
  • 10. – 11. Sales technique of TAs and TOs.
  • 12. Legislative regulations of TAs and TOs in relation towards clients.
  • 13. Final synthesis of knowledge.
