Course objectives
From the wide range of topics in the Roman era Europe must focus on selected areas of questions with basic knowledge in the field. Considering the position of the Silesian University in geographic space on the edge of the Great European Plain is accentuated knowledge that brings Polish archaeological research, traditionally focused on the study of cultures and Przeworsk wielbarské. Tracking is also a full range of other archaeological cultures from the North Sea to the Baltic. In separate chapters deal with provincial and limit archeology, with an excursion dedicated to the most important objects and locations in the central part of the Roman Empire. Barbarika cult phenomena are illustrated with examples of sacrificial place known from northern Europe. Knowing the Migration Period based on the ratio of the Carpathian basin and the territory controlled by the Franks.
