Course objectives
The course is designed for students of 1st year. Discipline is conceived as an introduction to the specificity of contemporary prose style and requires no additional predisposition. The course follows the reading experience and contemporary prose as ?familiarizing reading? shows possibilities and approaches to the prosaic parts that include both formal analysis of construction and thematic plan. Seminars will focus on working with genres shorter and medium-range (short story and so on) from the Czech literature of the late 20th century and the turn of the century and tenth years following, which will be presented to the peculiarities of the prosaic mode. Students will be acquainted with the elementary means of narrative (the narrator, narrative techniques, types of speech, character, space), which contribute to the overall interpretation of the meaning of art.
