Course objectives
The aim is to familiarize with the design of processors and computers based on x86 and clarify the basic issues of running programs incl. Data representation of the data.
Syllabus
  • Processor.
    Basic construction, interruption, registers, addressing algorithm.
    Processor communication with others. Input and output ports, memory access, addressing, memory, interrupts.
    Assembler.
    The basic machine instruction processor series Intel 8086th.
    Data representation.
    Representation of numbers in computers and computer arithmetic. Decimal, binary, octal and hexadecimal representation. Representation znaménkových and unsigned integers. Representation of floating-point (floating-point numbers). Links to the language C. IEEE standard. Rounding arithmetic exceptions. Error and accuracy. Stability calculation. Character encoding (ISO, WIN, UTF).

To obtain the credit must submit a term paper that includes a custom designed program on the subject, the student receives consultation with the student and usually during the middle of teaching the subject. The program must be a functional unit, which will be error free and will undertake work on the topic.
