Course objectives
Students will form their own practical measurement familiar with the basic measurements in electricity and magnetism.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to explain the nature of the investigated physical phenomenon, perform an experiment with available laboratory aids, evaluate the measurement results and determine the measurement error.
Syllabus
  • First Introductory Practicum - familiarization with laboratory regulations , occupational safety and health at work in the lab , basic first aid.
    Second Electrical conductivity of conductors, semiconductors and electrolytes.
    3rd Measurement of basic quantities. Introduction to basic measuring instruments. Measurement of voltage , current and resistance .
    4th Study capacitor. Determine the capacity of the capacitor determining the amount of charge depending on the geometric dimensions , connecting the capacitors , the capacitor energy .
    5th Verification Kirchhoff laws and Ohm's law , mixed serial- parallel connection of resistors, trans circuits ( cube , star -delta ) .
    6th Bridge circuits - Wheatstone bridge
    7th Work and power output . Verify the relationship between variables describing direct current. Efficiency el . equipment , thermal effects el . current.
    8th Electrodynamic effects of electric current conductor in a mag . field , Faraday's law of induction . Formation of alternating current.
    9th Study inductance. Determination of inductance coils , energy stored in the inductor , inductance coupling , the role of the nucleus.
    10th RLC AC circuit. Capacitance, inductance , impedance. Resonance .
    11th Measurement of the magnetic circuit , validation Hopkinson Act.
    12th Measurement of the hysteresis loop.
    13th Verify the relationship between variables describing the direct and alternating current.
    14th Measurement of the transformer.

Requirements for graduation credit: full participation in practical measurements, measuring readiness for any given task, performance measurement assigned tasks and then processing of the measurement protocol, the protocol approval by the teacher.Getting at least 50% of the points from the certification of the final written test.
