Basic orientation in specific types and kinds of sources from the field of individual auxiliary historical sciences.

Course objectives
Familiarisation with the literature and editions of written sources (in extenso, regesta) and of the principles of archeography. Practice of the basic practical skills necessary for determination, classification and utilisation of historical sources with the emphasis on documents of diplomatic and codicological character, for description, analysis and classification of sigillographic, heraldic and numismatic material, for dating, metrology data processing, etc. Work with specific sources of particular types and kinds introduces the issues of their complex analysis, criticism and interpretation. The aim is the introduction of their function and application in historical research (information ability, credibility) and application of procedures and methods when analysing and making them available. The seminar guides the students to independent work with historical sources (transliteration/transcription of texts, dating, regesting, blazoning of coats of arms, etc.)
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: - identify and describe individual types of historical sources. - transcribe and transliterate texts from   15. - 20th century - Identify and describe coats of arms, coins and seals. - Convert dates according to the Roman dating and the Christian calendar. aj.

- Active participation in seminars
- 90% compulsory attendance of lessons
- continuous fulfilment of assigned tasks (oral, written). Fulfillment of assigned practical tasks focusing on the comprehensive processing of written sources using auxiliary historical sciences: reading and transcription, dating and analysis of written sources of individual categories and various provenances from the Middle Ages and modern times, their analysis, criticism and evaluation; classification, description and analysis of sfragistic, heraldic and numismatic sources with regard to their development; knowledge of editions on the history of the Czech lands and Central Europe and the ability to work with them. Active participation in seminars, compulsory completion of 90% of teaching, fulfilled assigned tasks (oral, written)
