Course objectives
The lecture course provides basic knowledge of world developments after 1938. It focuses on the causes of the Second World War and the basic development trends after 1945. The development of international relations in a bipolar world until 1990, the Cold War, economic and social changes after 1945, issues of European integration. The content of the course is indicated in the theses of individual lectures. Selected topics are further developed by a seminar on recent history.
Learning outcomes
The lecture course provides basic knowledge of world developments after 1938. It focuses on the causes of the Second World War and the basic development trends after 1945. The development of international relations in a bipolar world until 1990, the Cold War, economic and social changes after 1945, issues of European integration. The content of the course is indicated in the theses of individual lectures. Selected topics are further developed by a seminar on recent history.

The Holocaust and its anchoring in history; occupation regimes in Europe 4. The struggle for the post-war world order (1943-1945) 5. The beginnings of the Cold War (1945-1947) 6. The "Hot" Cold War (1948-1953) 7. "Melting" and "Ice" in International Relations (1953-1959) 8. The restless "sixties" 9. The last two decades of the Cold War 10.
