Course objectives
The lecture series is focused on the history of building historical surveys, theory and practical implementation. It therefore combines both a lecture series in classrooms, focusing on the first two basic blocks, and field lectures, where there is a direct analysis of procedures and demonstrations of model situations. The theoretical block is based on the program and methodologies of standard non-destructive building historical surveys, as they emerged in the late 1990s and early 21st century. It deals with links to monument practice, legal aspects, the importance of detailed surveys, etc. Attention is also paid to the theories and conditions of practical application of most other surveys (eg restoration, technology, dendrology, dendrochronology, static, operative documentation, etc.). For a better illustration of the basic principles of the building historical survey, the last part of the cycle is presented by analyzes directly in the field, where Opava and its surroundings provide a number of exemplary problem areas.
Learning outcomes
After graduation, the student will be able to orientate in the issues of building-historical surveys, further distribute the acquired knowledge for the benefit of society, be able to prepare a standard non-destructive building-historical survey and be able to adequately assess and analyze other building-historical surveys and other related texts.
