Course objectives
The main topic is (connecting to Natural Language Processing I) automatic / machine aided translation and text (spelling / grammar / style) checking. This material allows the students for getting acquainted with the most serious problems of understanding natural language texts as well as with the principles of their solutions. This course requires absolving Natural Language Processing I.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • 1. Automatické referování.
    2. Strojový překlad. Metoda slovo za slovo, její zákonitá omezení a další vývoj k systémům tzv. přímého překladu (př.: SYSTRAN). Metody 2. generace: interlingvální a s transferem odděleným od analýzy a syntézy. Jakými strukturami lze obecně popisovat jazykový význam.
    3. Jaká by měla být obecná strategie analýzy, transferu a syntézy, jaké nástroje mohou přispět k její realizaci. Překlad jako obecná manipulace se znalostmi.
    4. Možnosti dílčí automatizace překladu.
    5. Automatizovaná korektura textů. Úrovně z hlediska hloubky analýzy (pravopisná a mechanická, gramatická, stylová). Obecně možné cíle, typy chyb, možná řešení a zásadní omezení.
