Course objectives
The students will get acquainted with the organisational system of health care as a public service including the public control of its quality and mechanism of its provision. The course enables to understand the importance of the society-wide health literacy, systems of health care funding, importance of provision, funding and succession of health and social services for the quality of the overall care for the needs of individuals, families and communities in the Czech Republic. The course informs of the basic legislation in the area of health service and social security scheme. Within the context of the demographic development that is characterised by aging of population, the course enables to understand the nature of systemic management of health service and using the standard tools of management on the national as well as international level.

  • 1. Health care from the perspective of historical development
    2. State of health of the population, demographic development, aging of population in Europe and the Czech Republic
    3. Health determinants having a negative effect in the world-wide context, possibilities of influencing
    4. Systems and models of health care funding
    5. Public health care in the Czech Republic, health care organisations
    6. Public health insurance, insurance premium, provided health services and their funding
    7. Health literacy of the society, health training, education
    8. Primary and secondary prevention, society-wide prevention programmes and activities of health insurance companies
    9. Importance of and conditions for the provision of spa treatment-rehabilitation care within the system of public health insurance
    10. Care for community, health-social care, importance of home care, hospice care
    11. Social insurance and services within the system of social security in the Czech Republic
    12. Importance of primary care, community care for family, children, women, seniors and mentally ill
