Předmět má za cíl seznámit posluchače s teoretickým pojednáním o sociologických výzkumných metodách, s důrazem na techniky využívané v knihovnicko-informační praxi (dotazníkové šetření, rozhovor, analýza dokumentů apod.), a matematické a statistické nástroje pro kvantitativní vyhodnocování výsledků výzkumů.
