Course objectives
1. A model of real world, conceptual model, basic components. 2. The ERA conceptual model, the set of entities, attributes, integrity constrains. 3. Conversion of ERA model into relation schemes, database design. 4. The HIT model, ISA hierarchy. 5. Information capacity of data structures. 6. Conversion of HIT model into relation schemes. 7. Distributed database systems, fragments of relations, optimizing transmission costs. 8. Data warehouse, environment structure, building of data warehouses, used technologies. 9. Data warehouse fragmentation: primary, horizontal and derived fragmentation, fragmentation of multidimensional model.
