- Methods of extragalactic distance measurements. Morfologz, kinetics and dynamics of Milkz way discussion. Classification of galaxies. Origin and evolution of largescale structures in the expanding universe.
- Syllabus
- Historical introduvtion, star counting, Hubble expansion.
Milky way - morfology kinematics and dynamics black hole at centre of Milky way (Sgr A*)
World of galaxies - spirál galaxies, eliptical galaxies, Hubble classification.
Spiral galaxy - types of spiral galaxies surface brightness profile rotation curve aand dark matter spiral arms like density waves.
Elliptical galaxies - classification surface brightness profilw composition dynamics.
Scaling relations - Tully-Fisher and Faber-Jackson relations.
Black holes at centres of galaxies -Schwarzchild radius radius of influenece kinematical evidence examples of supermassive blackholes in galaxies corelation between mass of supermassive black holes and proferties of galaxies,
Extragalactic distances - distance ladder Cepheides, SN Ia, galaxies surface brightness scaling relations.
Galaxies as gravitational lens - gravitational lensing simple models (point mass, isotermal sphere) applicaton (determination of lens mass distribution, determination of Hubble constant).
Color evolution of galaxies history of star formation and color of galaxy galactic spectra chemical evolution of galaxies.
Cosmology - Friedman universe kinematics and dynamics of expanzion consequences of Friedman expansion age of universe cosmic microwave background radiation cosmological redshift.
