- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to make students familiar with experimental photographic methods. Students learn how to work with photos in extreme lighting conditions, with slow shutter speeds or extremely high values of the aperture. In the course, students will learn the necessary theoretical minimum of capturing such images, and focus on their own work, which will include photographs of atmospheric phenomena photographs of the night sky and celestial objects.
- Syllabus
- The theoretical minimum. Exposure, lighting conditions, atmospheric conditions. Working with long exposures. Aperture, bokeh, optical defects and affect the images. Physical limits of digital cameras, noise, CMOS vs. CCD, dark current, and more.
Atmospheric photographs. Photos of atmospheric phenomena. Rainbow, halo phenomenom, bending phenomena, auroras, noctilucent clouds.
Basics of astrophotography. Star-trails, eclipse photographs through a telescope (the primary focus or the eyepiece) cover. Photo processing.
