Course objectives
The course focuses on the main literary works of 19th century German literature, from Romanticism that often opposed Weimarer Klassik through the pre-March era to the works of German realism until the beginning of naturalism - at the end of the 19th century. The course deals with important authors of this time, for example, F. Schlegel, Novalis and E.T.A. Hoffmann. The seminars will be based on the topics covered in the lectures. In this course, various types of literary works will be analyzed through the use of different texts and text passages. Students will also learn how to discuss works of literature. The basis of the analysis is the obligatory reading of the texts mentioned. This course will also make use of audiovisual materials and records of some of the texts.
