Course objectives
The course offers an overview of the German literature from the Middle Ages to the Baroque Epoch as well as the Enlightenment period known as the so-called Weimar Classicism, represented by Goethe and Schiller. Information about the most important authors and literary periods of German literary history will be included. The seminars will be based on the topics covered in the lectures. The focus of the course is the interpretation of selected literary works. The basis of the text analysis is student reading. The seminars will be realised in the form of homework assignments and consultations with the lecturer.
