Course objectives
The aim of the seminar is to familiarize students with sources serving musicology , with areas of musicological documentation (literature about music , music , sound recordings, musical instruments , visual materials of music ) , the musical lexicography , networks, music libraries and museums in the Czech Republic , International Music documentation , as well as music and documentation centers in the country.
Syllabus
  • 1. Heuristics and problem sources. Sources used musicology.
    2. Textual criticism. Criticism of musical notation. Music philology. Hermeneutics . Musical iconography. Disclosure of sources.
    3. Publishing techniques suitable for professional publication of music sources.
    4. Musicological documentation, the musicological documentation.
    5. Music lexicography. Czech musical lexicography.
    6. Music library, museum and music exposure, monuments famous musical personalities in Czech Republic.
    7. Musically documentation centres in the Czech Republic and abroad.
    8. Electronic information resources in the field of music. International Music Documentation - RILM, RISM, manage, RIPM
