Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course is dedicated to the influence of Italian cultural traditions on European culture since the 13th century. The seminar completes the knowledge achieved in the course called Italian history and culture. It presents the most important personalities in the fields of art, architecture and music. The course is divided in two semesters.
Syllabus
  • 1. Baroque in the Habsburg monarchy and its Italian models.
    2. The variation of Italian principles in the Czech Baroque art
    3. Italians in the economy and social life of Czech towns
    4. Italian baroque music in the Czech environment
    5. Italian opera companies in European countries
    6. Paris and Vienna under the influence of Italian opera
    7. Italian musicians in different European countries
    8. The influence of Italian conservatories on European musical life
    9. Czech classicism under the Italian influence
    10. Czech artists in Italy
    11. Czech classicism follows the Italian cultural heritage
    12. Italian opera in the 19th century and its presence in Europe
