Course objectives
This class aims at displaying some basic pieces of information about everyday life in the German Federal Republic since about 2000, and to more intensely enhance the abilities of listening, speaking, and writing. The starting point are some sequels from the 'telenovela' "Berlin, Berlin" (2010). They will be presented step by step, serve for training, and will help with the introduction of some subjects. In addition, basic pieces of information about German geography, cultural life, history, and politics will be subjects of the seminar. Materials here are being provided by the teacher.

  • Subjects will include:
    1. Big cities and the flat land in Germany
    2. Everyday life of younger people
    3. Different human generations, social groups and ways of life
    4. Families and other ways of living together
    5. German history, its traces and symbols in Berlin
    6. German colloquial speech
