The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
In this course, we deal with computer networks. The goal is to get familiar with the concept and the architecture of computer networks including wireless networks, their types, common protocols, network devices, techniques of network management.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will:
- be familiar with the concepts and architecture of computer networks.
- know what network protocols and TCP / IP network model are.
- solve basic issues related to network management.

  • 1. Introduction to computer networks.
  • 2. Network hardware.
  • 3. Protocols, standards, ISO/OSI reference model
  • 4. Protocols stacks, TCP/IP model.
  • 5. Physical transfer characteristics, transfer paths.
  • 6. Local networks - Ethernet: frames, cables, half and full-duplex transfer.
  • 7. Network and transport layer functions, IPv4, IPv6, TCP connection.
  • 8. Application protocols, network services, DNS.
  • 9. Network addresses and routing.
  • 10. Wireless and mobile networks.
  • 11. Network security and network management.

Credit: Compulsory attendance at seminars min. 75%. Written test and practical part of credit - crimping.
