Course objectives
Presentation skills are conceived as a necessary basis for successful presentations in the areas of business, self-presentation, marketing, etc. The course structure consists of a theoretical, analytical and practical phase. There is also a basic presentation and work with applications for creating multimedia presentations. After completing the course, the student will be able to prepare, structure and present topics, taking into account the specifics of the audience, their expectations and their own goals. They will learn to use various presentation techniques and methods. He will master the essence of non-verbal communication and work with the audience, space, time and multimedia presentations.

Syllabus
  • 1. Basics of presentation theory: a brief history of public communication (rhetoric), goals and basic pillars of public presentation 2. Language and body language 3. Persuasive function of presentation: how to interest and convince the audience - "storytelling as a form of presentation" 4. Analysis of real presentations and speeches (M. L. King) 5. Analysis of real presentations and speeches (Barack Obama, Steve Jobs) 6. Structure of the presentation: introduction, body, summary and conclusion, questions and objections 7. Work with space and time, audience, group dynamics 8. Task 1: Creating a short presentation on a given/arbitrarily chosen topic, without the use of AV technology/software and focusing on the message and personal expression 9. Presentation of the topic + feedback 10. Presentation of the topic + feedback 11. Presentation technology and software: MS PowerPoint, MS Sway, Prezi 12. Appearance and formatting of the presentation: graphics, font and typography, colors, visual materials 13. Task 2: Create a presentation in the selected software and on the given topic, while respecting the discussed principles of appearance and formatting; work with information and data 14. Presentation of the audio-visual presentation of the given topic + feedback 15. Presentation of an audio-visual presentation of the given topic + feedback
