Course objectives
The main task is to familiarize students with the technology of most artifacts found during archaeological research-ceramics. Students will be familiarized with the preparation of ceramic materials, firing and other surface treatment. It is important to have the correct identification of the early lead-glazed pottery glaze in the Middle Ages. Gradually discuss Slavic ceramics time, its basic types, namely pots, bowls and bottles. Then attention will be paid to the medieval pottery, especially the new shapes which appear with us in the 13th century. We discuss basic workshop topics and their shape filling pots, pitchers, bowls, tripod, their production and method of decorating. Attention will be paid to the specific Moravian interesting shapes, Brno and Lostice cups, which have become an important phenomenon konce15 production. century.
