Course objectives
The course aims to introduce students to comparative phonology as a problematic discipline and draw their attention to the contradictions of the various approaches and methods. It focuses on the questions of segments and suprasegment, where the main emphasis is on the role of syllable and its link to stress, rhythm and melody of speech.

    2. Segmentation and its levels, criteria of the phoneme category, distinguishing between the phonological and phonetical level
    3. Methodology of phonological notation
    4. Phonology of rhythm
    5. Syllable - matrix
    6. Typology of syllable and word length
    7. Phonemic notation
    8. Syllabic analysis of texts
    9. Language games with epenthesis
    10. Stress and syllable
    11. Retraction of stress
    12. Liaison
