Course objectives
The main aim of this course is to give students an overview of the Austrian history from the beginnings of the Habsburg empire until the development of the first and second republic with the main focus on social, economic and cultural difficulties and problems of Austria`s comeback after the World War II. In addition, students will get to learn about selected aspects of Austrian cultural studies. Details about the Austrian state, culture, media, customs and literary will be discussed. Students will gain an insight into the Austria`s social and cultural life and compare it to the Czech Republic.

- Comprehenshion checks collected in a portfolio and handed in at the end of the course
- 70 % independed work. The collected texts and questions will be discussed and reflected with the teacher in the 30 % of attendance time
