- Course objectives
- One semester lecture course supplemented seminar aims to familiarize students with the use of computer technology in museum practice, particularly in the area of ??documentation of museum exhibits. The course analyzes the information situation in the museum and the resulting concept of an automated information system can. The course explains the terms related to the automation of information processing in museums (information, data, information coding, types and data structures, relational database management system). The course explains the use of a relational database system for documentation of collections, as well as documentation, registration and cataloging of museum exhibits, chronological record of the first degree and systematic evidence II. degree of collection items. In the course of the formation of the catalog of museum collections on the computer, the contents of the catalog, use of an information system for recording DEMUS I. and II. degrees of museum documentation.

- 1. Analysis of the information situation in the museum. Basic and cross-sectional information subsystems in the museum.
2. The definition and the concept of information, data, information system, a digital computer and store information in memory.
3. Information phrase (record) as a model of reality, relational database management system, search and sort information.
4. Documentation, registration and cataloging of museum exhibits. Recommended administrative procedure of registration and professional documentation of museum exhibits.
5. Chronological record of the first degree and systematic evidence II. degrees of museum exhibits. Central Register of Collections (CES).
6. Cataloging the collection. The system of cataloging collection items on your computer. Content catalog of articles on the computer. Approach to the classification of articles. Norms and standards for the documentation of museum collections.
