- Course objectives
- Lecture series focuses on the typology, function and appearance of residential and administrative settlements and fortifications from their inception, through development to dožívání some types with special emphasis on the structural nature of fortifications types of masonry, material aspects, etc. The issue is tracked as a European (in in some cases, non-European) context, and particularly with regard to the situation in Central Europe and in the Czech lands and in Silesia in particular. A series of lectures will attempt to give insight into the development of castles, palaces, fortresses and settlements courts in Central Europe from a variety of functional, formal , social and urban aspects in chronological order from the early Middle Ages to the 19th century , sporadically after 1 half of the 20th age. The topic will be considered both in terms of theory , with a particular focus on the definition and characteristics of different types of architectural and functional changes in historical and stylistic periods, and interspersed with a closer look at selected objects, allowing for illustrative administration of selected problem areas . They analyzed the strategic, fortified and administrative concepts in their historical variability, discussed trends as offers basic scientific literature covered by the settlement, representative and economic functions, etc. In selected cases will be teaching in the classroom replaced excursions to selected objects to the acquisition of theoretical knowledge was confronted with real situations.
