Course objectives
In course of lectures, the recent state of research on development of Mesolithic and postmesolitic hunter-gatherer communities in Silesia will be presented. Relative chronology and cultural transformations of Mesolithic societies, starting from Preboreal up to late Atlantic period and in some cases, younger periods will be discussed. The focus will be paid on genetic origin of particular cultural traditions, as in Silesia, apart from dominating influences of so called northern (lowland model) cultural circle represented by the Komornica - Duvensee complex and younger cultures, an influence of west circle of European Mesolithic (upland model) is very strong and represented by the Beuron - Coincy culture (mostly in Sudety mountains). Issues of the most important lithic collections in their formal and typological aspects and problem of raw material selection will be taken up.
