Course objectives
The course has a form of a continuous teaching practice at elementary or secondary schools. During the teaching practice students get acquainted with the history and operation of the school, framework and school education programmes of their course of study, and other pedagogical documents. The students are also informed about input and output requirements. They learn to complete class register, enter grades in the school electronic system, etc. If possible, the students attend school events and staff meetings. In the course of the teaching practice, the student attends five classes, sitting in on the classes of their training teacher. During those classes the student will take notes on the lesson with concrete goals so that they can later analyse the lesson. They will pay attention to time devoted to individual language skills, the exploitation of social forms, functionality of speaking the foreign language and mother tongue during class, work with voice and body language, organisation of notes on the board, etc. In the main part of the teaching practice the student will teach 10 lessons while supervised by their training teacher. The student has to show their ability to utilize theoretical knowledge of pedagogy, psychology, and didactis in practice, including a structured preparation for the class and feedback. The student will keep a pedagogical diary in which they record their notes from the attended classes, their evaluation, preparations for classes including handouts, tests with keys and evaluation, analysis of texbooks, evaluation of the school education programme, and a self-reflection on their stay at school.
