Course objectives
The lecture in German lexicology deals with words from different lexical points of view (etymology, onomasiology, semasiology, phraseology as well as lexicography) and is based on the comparison of Czech and German. Students will gain knowledge and analytical competencies on German lexical system, German word formation, varieties of contemporary German, etc. An important part of the course is concentration on problems of German lexicography as well as the practical knowledge of German dictionaries, specialised lexicons and encyclopaedias, which will be dealt with in the seminars.
