The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The aim of the course is to prepare students to create documents with various contents such as texts, tables, and databases.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- create a structured text document with automated text such as a table of content, index, list of tables and figures, references and cross-references;
- Process a spreadsheet document that contains formulas, graphs, and basic functions;
- understand the function and structure of the database and work with the database;
Syllabus
  • 1. Text editor: text editor environment, document display settings, principles of text creation on computer, styles, text formatting, style change, typographic and aesthetic rules, inserting objects into text, their properties, text tables, templates, their use and creation, auxiliary functions and tools of text editor, character search and substitution, automatic spell checking, automatic corrections, tracking changes, automatic document content creation, export, data import, PDF format.
  • 2. Spreadsheet: function, table structure, formulas and functions, cell addressing, cell editing and filling, table appearance formatting, graph creation, and editing, data filtering and sorting, forms, conditional formatting, data export, and import.
  • 3. Relational databases: basic concepts and principles of relational databases, database structure, fields of application of relational databases, inserting and editing data, to import and to export data, work with forms, reports, search queries, filtering. 4. Databases: basics of creating tables and relationships between them, creating and managing tables, forms for easier inserting and displaying data from the database, creating a report to print, compiling simple selection and update queries.

Compulsory attendance at seminars min. 75%.
To get the credit it is necessary to get more than 50% points from the tasks assigned during the semester.
