Course objectives
For each lesson a particular phenomenon is choses from the point of view of the production of the speech. A special attention is dedicated to those Italian sounds which are characteristic for the Italian sound system. The lessons are focused on the imitation of the sounds and intonation in Italian based on authentic dialogues. The phonetic transcription is an important part of the course with the aim to practise the correct pronunciation.
Learning outcomes
Basic terminology, International Phonetic Alphabet, phonetic transcription. precise articulations of the Italian vowels and consonants, correct pronunciation in Italian.

  • 1. Lezione introduttiva, IPA - International Phonetic Alphabet, accento, durata, sillaba, enfasi 2. Le vocali: il sistema delle vocali italiane: Vocale e (chiusa, e aperta) 3. Vocale o(chiusa e aperta) 4. Dittonghi ascendenti (piede, uomo) 5. Dittonghi discendenti (pausa, fai, sei), iato 6. Consonanti geminate (copia x coppia) 7. Pronuncia qu [kw] (quadro), gu [gw] (guanti) 8. Pronuncia sc (i, e) 9. Pronuncia c (i, e,), g (i, e) (cento, gelato) 10. Pronuncia z[ts] calza, z[dz] zaino, [ts, dz] 11. Pronuncia gl(i) (foglia) 12.
