Course objectives
The student will acquire basic knowledge in the area of assessment of selected environmental problems of the environment, in the area of assessment of anthropogenic influence on cycles of elements and substances in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems on a local, regional and global scale.
Learning outcomes
The student will gradually, according to the acquired knowledge, practice problem tasks from the area of ​​evaluation of selected environmental problems of the environment.
Syllabus
  • 1. Cycle of elements and substances in the ecosystem. Negative anthropogenic influence of cycles of elements and substances in terrestrial, wetland and water ecosystems on a local, regional and global scale. 2. Climate change. Disruption of the carbon cycle and its relation to climate change. Characteristics and essence of climatic changes (methods of climate analysis in the past, paleoclimatic reconstruction of the past climate). 3. Nutrient balance in terrestrial ecosystems. Entry of substances into terrestrial ecosystems (dry, wet and total atmospheric deposition of acidifying substances). Output of substances from terrestrial ecosystems (watershed runoff). 4. Acidification and eutrophication. Disturbance of the nitrogen cycle and its effect on acidification and eutrophication of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Disruption of the sulfur cycle and its effect on the acidification of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Disruption of the phosphorus cycle and its effect on eutrophication. 5. Stratospheric ozone layer. Characteristics and essence of the problem of the depletion of the Earth's ozone layer. 6. Main international activities and conventions in the field of air protection. Convention on long-range transboundary air pollution. Vienna Convention on the Protection of the Ozone Layer. United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Content of practices The student will gradually, according to the acquired knowledge, practice problem tasks from the area of ​​evaluation of selected environmental problems of the environment.
