- Course objectives
- The student will acquire basic knowledge in environmental protection legislation and in the area of pollution and protection of individual components of the environment.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion, the student: - will master the environmental protection legislation and in the field of pollution and protection of individual components of the environment; - will acquire the necessary habits in solving problematic tasks in the field of pollution and protection of air, soil, water and the effect of pollutants on humans.

- 1. Man and environment. Human impact on the environment. Environmental issues. Human population growth. Earth's carrying capacity. 2. Legislative protection of the environment in the Czech Republic. Characteristics of the environmental care management system in the Czech Republic. Legal regulation of environmental care. 3. Legal regulation of the protection of environmental components. Air protection legislation. Legal regulation of water protection. Legal regulation of nature and landscape protection. Legal regulation in waste management. Environmental management tools. 4. Air protection. Characteristics of air pollutants. Properties and classification of pollutants. 5. Impact of air pollutants on soil, water, landscape, materials and human population. Causes of corrosion of building materials. 6. Water protection. Hydrological cycle. Water use and its quality. Types of water pollution. Organic and inorganic substances. Eutrophication. Acidification. Salinity. Wastewater treatment plants. 7. Soil protection. Soil and food production. Soil degradation. Erosion. Desertification. Waterlogging. Salting. Chemical degradation. Compaction. Soil protection. 8. Nature and landscape protection. Biodiversity and its assessment. Protection at the level of species and ecosystems. Nature and landscape protection in the world and the Czech Republic. 9. Health and environment. Content of practices The student will gradually, according to the acquired knowledge, practice problem tasks in the field of pollution and protection of air, soil, water and the effect of pollutants on humans.
