- Course objectives
- The subject acquaints students with the manyparticle physics, leads to understanding of atoms, molecules and solids properties calculations.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- master Rayleigh-Schrödinger and Beillouin-Wigner perturbation theory;
- be able to determine energies and properties of manyparticle systems using Goldstone and Hugenholtz diagrams; - Syllabus
- Main topics of the subject:
- - Second quantization and occupy numbers representation,
- - Fock space, creation and anihilation operators,
- - Fermion and Boson Statistics,
- - Operations with creation and anihilation operators, normal product and pairing, - Wick theorem,
- - Rayleigh-Schrödinger and Beillouin-Wigner perturbation theory,
- -Energy and properties of manyparticle systems using Goldstone and Hugenholtz diagrams.
