Course objectives
Polish language for SES is conceived as a four-semester course whose aim is to provide the students with principal knowledge of Polish language which would then allow them to manage common communication situations but also individual work with Polish text and finally also individual compositions of simpler texts. This aim corresponds to structure of lessons. The teaching of grammar will be supplemented by practical exercises which would reflect reached level. With respect to the fact that Polish is required not only in the frame of everyday communication, the attention will be paid also to managing of Polish linguistic terminology which would always correspond to given issue. Polish for SES IV follows previous courses and presupposes knowledge of topics which were interpreted and exercised. In the frame of this final course, the students will be presented higher language levels: Polish syntax and stylistics. In the first case, the structure of Polish simple and complex sentence will be analysed. With regard to time and space limitations the attention will be paid rather to abilities of recognition and formation o required sentence than to detailed syntactic analysis which would inappropriately exceed the given aim of the course. In the second case, the students will introduces various styles which might in future meet. The character of the practical exercises will correspond to this structure and the exercises will be aimed at analysis of texts of various styles. The effort will be completed by basic knowledge of the language culture which among others deal with language instruments which are typical for recognition of individual styles.

    7. Sentential equivalents and sentences with no subject
    8. Introduction to Polish language culture and stylistics, literal and colloquial language
    9. Augmentatives and diminutives, reinforcement or attenuation of adjectives
    10. Majuscule and minuscule writing
    11. Means of expression in formal and informal style
    12. Letter, email, demand writing
