- Course objectives
- The cycle of the lectures contains description of main periods of development of religion in central Europe in world context from the end of the 18th century till present day. The subject should in a decisive way contribute to enlargement of knowledge in this area, comprehension of connections between development of modern civil society and traditional churches as well as presentation of circumstances and time background of the origin of new Christian denominations and modern religious alternative directions and sects, next to sketch basic problems of Islam and Judaism in European area. The lectures also show the importance of religion regarding public life, what the influence of religion on formation of society is and international relations and what the role of religion in the origin of conflicts is (Muslim-Christian fights, anti-Semitism, radical Islam).
