Course objectives
The subject is aimed at the understanding with psychological, psychiatric, sociological, and other criminal contexts crimes with the main emphasis on the role of crime victims. Relationships between offenders and victims of crime, their interactions before they act and in its course, victimization. Another target is to become familiar with the effects of crime on victims, assistant to not only crime victims, but also victims of natural disasters,of major accidents and terrorist events, with an emphasis on the victims rights of these crimes. Finally, the goal is to obtain information about the history of victimology, but also on the current functioning European systems, which are as an example for the Czech conditions, as well to have insight about rights, both state and non-state institutions, etc., to participate in the compensation of victims of crime. The subject is aimed at mastering of the theoretical requirements by using the quality literature - basic literature, recommended, but also professional, practical ability of a multidisciplinary approach to the issue from the perspective of law, medicine, psychology, psychiatry, psychotherapy and others so that the students can both, focus on the issue, and apply their knowledge practically while dealing with the first aid to the victims of a crime.

    1. History and origin of victimology.
    2. Victimization.
    3. Typology of victims (vulnerable victims and witnesses).
    4. Children as victims of a criminal offence.
    5. The impact of a crime on the victim.
    6. Dealing with victims of criminal offences.
    7. Assistance to victims of crimes in Europe, mediation in the Czech Republic.
    8. The victims´ rights.
    9. Legal, psychological, psychoterapeutical and other assistance to crime offence victims in the Czech Republic.
    10. Non-professional help.
