Course objectives
The aim of the course is to learn principal economic instruments necessary for understanding economic factors influencing realization of economic policies in central European countries and macro-economic development, comparison of economic growth, economic level and socio-economic aspects including influence of integration of central European countries into European Union.
Syllabus
  • 1. Classification of principal economic concepts - production factors, production, economic system, labour division, market principle, primary market elements, offer, demand, competition, globalisation, internationalization of economy, European economic area and its importance.
    2. Economic policy, European economy and international economic integration within EU
    3. Politico-economic factors influencing formulation and realization of economic policies of central European countries I - harmonisation of social powers, human development and pension inequality
    4. Politico-economic factors influencing formulation and realization of economic policies of central European countries II - former conditions, real increase of GNP and economic freedom
    5. Politico-economic cycle and macro-economic development. Political market and models of politico-economic cycle, relation of politics and economy, macroeconomic development and its international context
    6. Development of production and offer and its influence on economic growth in individual countries, contribution of main branches to GNP creation
    7. International comparison of economic growth and economic level in individual countries I - economic level of a country, development of national economy according to main sectors, development of national countries of given countries according to main branches
    8. International comparison of economic growth and economic level in individual countries II - inflation and its development, monetary and exchange rate development, fiscal policy and development of public finances of individual countries
    9. International comparison of economic growth and economic level in individual countries III - characteristics of incomes development, labour market situation, economic activity of population, unemployment development
    10. Socio-economic aspects of central European countries I- salaries and insurance. Development of salary level and their differentiation, social and health insurance
    11. Socio-economic aspects of central European countries II- housing, family and educational policy and realization of their targets
    12. Influence of integration of central European countries to EU - contributions and expenditures

Teacher's information
The course is ended by written exam testing the principal indicators of economy of central European countries, changes of proprietary relations in the frame of transformation of economy and some international comparisons of economic development of central European area.
