Course objectives
The aim of the course is to extend the field of the principles of social etiquette as a set of general rules of social icontact, and the issue of international contacts and relations. The part of the course is to apprise students with the standards, practices and approaches used in the social interaction and bilateral and multilateral international relations.It is focused on international cooperation, particularly with regard to the standards and practices of the European Union. Part of the course is devoted to a diplomatic protocol as a set of rules and practices of civilized relations between states, based on international law and habits of diplomatic practice. The aim of the subject is to present the principles of social interaction, etiquette and issues of shaping of social relations. The cultural specificities and intercultural aspects of international cooperation, personality and interacting dynamics of international business negotiations will be aken into account.

  • 1st Social contact and etiquette - concept, role , significance
    2nd The concept of international contacts and relations
    3rd Current problems of international relations and relations
    4th Diplomacy, its role and concepts. The characteristic of diplomatic activity and role of diplomats The importance of diplomacy for public organizations and institutions
    5th Diplomatic Protocol, the legal framework of diplomacy, the principles of diplomatic negotiations and diplomatic practice
    6th The rules of social contact at an international level
    7th The organization and management of international business negotiations
    8th Coping indifferent sitations during international negotiations
    9th Cultural conditions of bilateral and multilateral international cooperation
    10th Important areas of social interaction and practical application of social etiquette : Principles of interpersonal communication and relations: a way of speaking, protocol sequence, greetings and introductions, business cards and their use, names, writing and correspondence, telephone contact and use of technical means of communication
    11th Managing of audience and working negotiation. Preparation and organization of official visits. Preparation of business trips. Welcoming and other ceremonies. The use of state symbols. Language issues, including interpretation
    12th Social events, their types and organization. Dining and seating arrangements. Official correspondence. Caring of personal appearance and dress code. Apologies

Students will analyse different social situations and cases of social etiquette and diplomatic practice. They will critise and evaluate those procedures.
