- Course objectives
- The course is aimed at acquainting the students with comprehensive nursing care for patients suffering from internal diseases. The course describes clinical medicine basis and nursing care for patients suffering from internal diseases. Having finished the course, the students will have good grasp of the issues of nursing care for patients suffering from internal diseases.
- Syllabus
- 1. Nursing care for patients with kidney diseases, urinary tract infections, urolithiasis, renal carcinoma.
2. Nursing care for patients with kidney diseases, acute kidney failure, chronic kidney failure, kidney transplantation.
3. Nursing care for patients with metabolic and nutrition disorders (disorder of acid-base balance and its treatment, disorders of water electrolyte metabolism, metabolic bone diseases, porphyria, purine metabolism diseases).
4. Nursing care for patients with metabolic and nutrition diseases (obesity, diabetes mellitus).
5. Nursing care for patients with endocrinological diseases (thyroid and parathyroid gland diseases (hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism)).
6. Nursing care for patients with rheumatological diseases (diffusion diseases of connective tissues, spondylarthrose, osteoarthrose, gout, infectious arthritis, locomotor system tumours).
7. Nursing care for patients with immunologically conditioned diseases (immunodeficiency, autoimmune diseases - lupus erythromatodes, rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis affecting small and large vessels, allergies).
8. Acute poisoning (fundamentals of therapy of acute conditions, overview of antidotes, intoxication with chemical substances, mushrooms, plants, snakes, industrial chemical products).
9. Haematology (anaemia, leukaemia, Hodgkin's disease, haemophilia, disseminated intravascular coagulation).
10. Some infectious diseases in practice (parvoviral infections, malaria, infections caused by salmonella, bacillary dysentery, tularaemia, botulism, alimentary intoxication, influenza, etc.).

The contact instruction is implemented through the system of tutorials on selected topics. The combined part of the studies is implemented in the e-learning course environment at e-portal http://elearning.fvp.slu.cz/. The students have study supports including correspondence tasks available for instruction there. The course is concluded by a credit in written or oral form; within it, the student will demonstrate knowledge of basic and recommended reading and be able to discuss the processed correspondence tasks. The student will have the opportunity to consult individually the topics studied, through individual or group tutorials or electronic mail.
Credit requirements:
Draft of nursing plan for a patient with a selected internal disease.
Written test with cut-off score: 80 %.
