Course objectives
The aim of this course is to acquaint the students with practical training. The students are distributed in workplaces (departments/wards) in the fields of primary, secondary and tertiary care according to the study plan (see the table - Practical Training Schedule). Practical training lessons are supervised by clinical practice mentors in cooperation with expert supervisors of clinical practice at the Nursing Institute. (Each practical training supervisor/teacher of nursing teaches only the fields of practical training, in which he/she is a professional and he/she is responsible for clinical supervision during training of students.) Clinical departments (workplaces, wards) for teaching and training of students are chosen on the basis of specified standards. The course acquaints students with issues of individual clinical departments (wards) and workplaces. Within the practical training, the student does the training in standard nursing wards/departments and intensive care units as well as special nursing units. The student shall learn how to classify differences in nursing for patients suffering from various illnesses, handicapped patients and terminal patients. Having finished the course, the student shall be able to work in individual clinical departments by means of the nursing process method under mentor's supervision.
