The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course is focused on social psychology issues and fosters students´ knowledge of human behaviour. Social interactions are explained (social percepsion, communication, interaction in formal and informal social groups, etc.) At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand and explain the subject of social psychology and its relationship to other disciplines, the basics of interpersonal perception, human behaviour and its informative value, the socialization process in humans, the importance and meaning of social groups, and the interrelation of lifestyle and socialization.
Syllabus
  • Lectures:
    1. Introduction - the discipline of social psychology and its importance, key terms. Social determination of human psyche, the importance of socialization processes. Methods in social psychology
    2. Social behaviour and influence. Contexts of social interaction. Social facilitation. Perception and the reliability/bias of perceptual judgments
    3. Social communication and its styles
    4. Social groups and group processes. The structure of social groups
    5. Attitudes. Attitudes and behaviour. Conflict and co-operation
    Practical sessions:
    1. Social maturity and cultural contexts. Self-concept and self-esteem. Contexts of social interaction
    2. Psychological sources of deprivation. CAN (Child Abuse and |Neglect) syndrome formation, transgenerational transfer
    3. Affiliation and altruism
    4. Aggression, aggresiveness and stress. Selceted forms of aggressive behaviour in society (hooliganism)
    5. The importance of group leaders and the formation of group relations. Crowd psychology
    6. Application of selected methods in social group management. Sociometrics
