Course objectives
The course is aimed at acquainting the students with operation principles of the most important medical devices in nursing as well as with the related legislative regulations. The course describes biophysical and technical principles used for medical devices in nursing practice. Having finished the course, the students will know the principles of technical processing of physiological values and signals and the options of their displaying.
Syllabus
  • 1. Legislation, classification and technical standardization of medical devices.
    2. Bio-electric signals, signal processing. Issues of sensor-patient connection.
    3. Instrumentation in surgery.
    4. Instrumentation in cardiology.
    5. Instrumentation in neurology and audiology.
    6. Instrumentation in radiology.
    7. Instrumentation in rehabilitation.
    8. Instrumentation for anaesthesia and resuscitation.
    9. Artificial organs.

Teacher's information
Credit requirements: 100% active attendance at practical sessions. The teacher cam specify substitutive way of fulfilment of study duties to students who cannot attend compulsory lessons for serious reasons in the extent of missed lessons.
Written credit test with cut-off score: 80 %.
