- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The course is a part of complex of basic courses. It is based on knowledge of macroscopic and microscopic structure of the human body, obtained in anatomy. The course teaches functions of particular organs and organ systems. Physiology is followed up with pathology and pathological physiology.
- Syllabus
- Lectures:
1. Stages of human ontogenesis. Function of cell. Bodily fluids. Homeostasis.
2. Integration function of CNS, sense functions.
3. Movability of human and its control.
4. Function of endocrine glands, basic effects of hormones.
5. Blood, lymph. Cardiovascular functions.
6. Ventilation and respiratory functions.
7. Function of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT).
8. Substance and energy metabolism. Basics of a healthy diet.
9. Function of excretion of organisms. Acid-base balance (ABR). Thermoregulative mechanisms.
10. Function of reproduction of humans.
11. Role of ventilation for ABR, evaluation of human ventilation functions (spirometry, FEV)
12. Biologically significant reflexes of GIT (swallowing, defecatory), stomach barrier.
Seminars and practical sessions:
1. Characteristics of child's physiological functions. Changes of physiological functions during pubescence.
2. Stressors, stages of stress, benefit of stress, hazard of stress. Subjective factors of physical non-well-being I (acute and chronic pain, itching, nausea and other).
3. Stressors, stages of stress, benefit of stress, hazard of stress. Subjective factors of physical non-well-being I (acute and chronic pain, itching, nausea and other).
4. Specifics of physiological functions of adult male and female. Energy balance of organism - evaluation, control of food intake. Role of liver in metabolism.
5. Specific changes of physiological functions during aging and in old age.
6. External manifestation of heart activity, changes in blood pressure in physiological conditions.
