Examination - lectures and required reading.
Seminar for full-time studies- active participation in seminars, research process and final report of the minimum length of 10 standard pages, including a presentation at the seminar.

The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Lecture The goal is to provide students with information on the issue of abuse and child neglect. Interpretation will focus on the historical background of this phenomenon and its development up to now. The course is also focused on the personality of an individual in a social environment, the various forms of child abuse. Failure will not prevent the CAN syndrome, its legal aspects (The Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Convention on the Rights of the Child), psychotherapeutic intervention and care for a child who suffers from CAN syndrome. Seminar The seminar aims to provide students with practical examples of case studies of battered, abused and neglected children is always in relation to the topic of the lectures. The seminars will also include video clips from the issue with practical model of the situation with a proposal for further action will be addressed , etc. Attention will be given to preventive programs of the syndrome, its analysis, etc.

    1 Syndrome of tortured, abused and neglected children, history of CAN syndrome.
    2 Status of children in society, historical aspects.
    3 Physical abuse.
    4 Psychological abuse.
    5 Sexually abused children.
    6 Negligence and neglect.
    7 Specific forms of CAN.
    8 Mental disorders in adults and children.
    9 Children at risk, life threatening situation and psychological distress of the child.
    10 The CAN syndrome, prevention of CAN syndrome, the identification and registration, legal security of the child with CAN, the legal aspects.
    11 Problems of forensic expert examining an abused child, the child as a witness.
    12 The role of social workers to deal with syndrome.
    13 Treatment of children affected by the CAN syndrome, psychotherapeutic interventions, care of a child disabled by CAN syndrome.

Solving of two activities in the preventive program aimed at CAN syndrome (see seminar topics for full-time study). Processed material send by e-mail to 6 week of the semester - evaluation of group consultation. Successful processing task is a prerequisite for obtain a credit.
