The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The aim of the course is to follow foundation, gradual formation and phasing of EU till the nowadays form. The focus is on introduction of institutions of EU, their functions and workloads. The course briefly describes legislative area, common policies of EU, structural policy of EU with special attention to regions, regional and social policy, next also monetary policy and building monetary union as well as functioning of so called other policies. The attention is paid also to issue of educational system and school institutions. The course comprises also tutorial with the aim to analyse the issues, preparation of seminar papers and further discussion on given topics.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to issue - connections of integration processes in Europe, genesis of forming of European Community - European Union (phasing). New dimension of integration process after 1986.
    2. Law basement, authorities and institutions of EU
    3. Common policies of EC-EU - general characteristics, trade, transport and agricultural policy
    4. To common monetary policy (Economic and monetary union), foreign and security policy of EU
    5. Social policy of EU (community policy)
    6. Structural and regional policy of EU, structural funds
    7. Other policies (instruments) of EU (industrial, health, school-educational, environment protection, consumer protection etc), sector policies - ECSC, Euratom
    8 . EC/EU policy and countries of central and eastern Europe
    9. Nice, Laeken, Convetion, EU constitution, adhesion, current issues
    10. Further EU expansion, EU in period 2007-2013
