The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the approaches of social work in the context of the historical development of society and of the field. It introduces students to the role and position of applied and theoretical social work and applied and theoretical social services in the context of Act no. 108/2006 Coll., On social services. The greatest attention is paid to the distinction between application of social work and social services based on the areas (counselling, treatment, prevention) and forms (residential, outpatient, outreach) of social services as defined in the aforementioned Act. After completing the course, students will be well informed on the issue of the origins of socially exclusive events, their causes, diagnosis and types of redress in the process of social inclusion. Students will be able to create, present and defend a case study of individual, group or community social work. Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Students can define basic concepts of social work, social services, social pathology and describe them in the context of the development of society. They can describe basic steps of social work, i.e. from screening tests to the completion of the intervention. They are familiar with basic legislation related to social work, including public finance and social policy, and the methods of financing social services. Professional Skills: Students are able to diagnose social issues based on case histories, propose solutions in the form of social work in institutions offering social work or social services. Students can recognize forms and areas of social services provided and register the social service or social service provider at the regional office in accordance with the above mentioned law. Students are equipped with empathetic and cognitive communication settings according to the type of client.
