- Course objectives
- The course is a profiling vocational theoretical and practical course that provides students with a comprehensive knowledge of the care of women of child-bearing period, pregnant women, mothers in labour, and mothers and children. It includes obstetrics as a theoretical part, including anatomy and physiology of pregnancy.
- Learning outcomes
- Learning outcomes: students know the basic aspects of care of women of child-bearing period and pregnant women.
Professional Knowledge: Students demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts in obstetrics.
Professional Skills: Students can plan and perform care of a woman with a physiological pregnancy.
General Qualification: Students are familiar with prenatal care of pregnant women.
Competences: Students are able to make informed planing of prenatal care of women with a physiological pregnancy - Syllabus
- 1. Anatomy, topography and physiology of genitals, pelvis bone, soft birth canal, ovaries, uterus, vagina, external genitalia, breast.
- 2. The emergence and development of pregnancy, fertilization.
- 3. Development of a fertilized egg.
- 4. Diagnosis of pregnancy, structure and function of the placenta, fetal membranes, amniotic fluid and umbilical cord, duration of pregnancy.
- 5. Maternal changes, fetal position in utero. Regimen during pregnancy. Drugs in pregnancy and ethical aspects of pregnancy.
- 6. Pregnancy - physiological, prenatal examination, obstetric examination, obstetric history, input diagnostic tests.
- 7. Prenatal care during pregnancy. Care of women in I., II., III. trimester.
- 8. CTG - classification.
- 9. Care of women with chronic diseases.
- 10. Care of women in the antenatal period.
