Course objectives
The course is conceived as a theoretical-practical one. It conveys to students a general understanding of the pathological processes in different tissues, organs and organ systems of the body. It covers the fields of pathology and pathophysiology. Students acquire basic knowledge of disease states and learn to understand the disease in relation to the human body.
The course describes the general part of the basic pathological processes in the cell and in tissues, individual technical terms are also used in the interpretation of special pathology, which describes the damage and disorders in certain organs or systems. The instruction also makes use of some basic concepts of clinical practice.
Having completed the course, students will be well versed in both general pathology (termination of the organism, causes of diseases, regressive and metabolic changes, , importance and progress of inflammation, progressive changes, foundations of tumorous diseases) as well as special pathology (with emphasis on the basic features of individual systems and the resulting disorders, and on the most important disease entities).
Learning outcomes
Professional Knowledge: Students can describe and explain the causes of diseases, their development, microscopic and macroscopic picture in relation to clinical manifestations
Professional Skills: Students can correctly identify and fixate biopsy material collected by a physician.
General Qualification: Students demonstrate the understanding of findings, ability to navigate the issues, deriving context; independent, coherent, logical and technically correct expression, use of technical terminology.
Competences: Students can correctly identify and fixate biopsy material collected by a physician.
