- Course objectives
- During the study, students will be provided with the necessary knowledge of general psychiatry. Students will become familiar with basic categorization of psychological disorders and terminology used in psychiatry. Attention will be paid to the basic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and the most common psychiatric symptoms, syndromes and conditions. Students will be introduced to the issue of ethics and law in relation to the mentally ill.
- Learning outcomes
- Professional knowledge:
- students are familiar with the basic terminology used in psychiatry
- students have basic knowledge of the categorization of mental disorders, the basic symptoms and syndromes, the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders
- students are familiar with the problems of acute conditions in psychiatry, with mental disorders associated with the puerperium and issues of psychosomatic conditions
- students have a basic knowledge of ethical and legal issues in relation to the mentally ill
Professional skills:
- students recognize and describe symptoms of a psychic disorder which they can distinguished from the norm
- students can propose appropriate solutions in conjunction with the health status of the client
- students can provide specific advice and support to the patient
- students can advise as to where to seek professional help
General qualification:
- students can independently choose an appropriate, productive approach in contact with a mentally ill individual and apply it to regular practice

- 1. Introduction to psychiatry. Organization of psychiatric care.

- 5. Diagnostics. Interview with a psychiatric patient.
- 6. Therapeutic approaches in psychiatry.

- Personal contact in teaching, consulting hours. During continuous study, the student uses the study support and processes selected correspondence tasks. Here he will also demonstrate knowledge of compulsory literature and contact teaching lectures. The student will be able to continuously consult individually studied topics of the subject through e-mail, individual or group consultations.
